Clinton is home to the Little Italy Festival held over the Labor Day weekend each year. Nestled on the Banks of the Wabash, Clinton hosts a large Italian population who bring a great cultural presence to the city. Newport is the county seat of Vermillion County.

Education

Clinton is in close proximity to Terre Haute, home to five institutions of higher learning, which not only offer educational opportunities, but also serve as centers for entertainment, recreation, cultural activities and business assistance. Many Vermillion County residents were educated in these institutions and many teach in them.
